What: A post-Helene community expression through music and spoken word.
Why: To shed light on the stories and music inspired by the events of Hurricane Helene.
How: The initial focus will be on a 12 to 16 song album, ‘After the Flood’, that will include original songs from Western NC musicians. The songs must have been written post Helene and will reflect life, feelings, and observations in Western NC. Furthermore, we will capture the inspiration behind the songs in a "story tellers" type of format.
When: The album will be released the week of September 22, 2025. This will also include a yet to be determined event on or near September 27-the anniversary of Hurricane Helene. The event will include performances by 4 to 6 ‘After the Flood’ bands/musicians.
Who: Local musicians from all genres will be allowed to submit 1 to 2 songs to be considered for the album. We are seeking all submissions by July 15th.
Recording: The album will be recorded and mixed at Landslide Studio, a professional studio in N. Asheville, from August 4 to August 11. Likewise, if artists have studio quality recordings they will be allowed to submit those as well.
Submissions: Please submit rough demos/videos/quality recordings of songs to Chuck Lee at [email protected] by July 15th. Chuck can also be reached at 828 230 4510.
